As a musician, you are passionate about your tone - and at DAR Amps, we share that passion. Our innovative designs incorporate modern technology in service of old school principles, creating amplifiers that are uniquely positioned to meet the requirements of modern guitarists and bass players.
DAR Amps are designed and built without compromise, our goal being to deliver consistently brutal tone that maintains its edge even at the highest levels of gain. While other amps suffer from unfocused tone under high gain operation, DAR Amps continue to produce rich, articulated output all the way. With a DAR amplifier you can be sure your signature tone will endure as you dial in the gain, so that you will never be lost in the mix.
In addition to uncompromising overdrive, DAR amplifiers deliver beautiful clean tone. Turn down the gain and our unique configuration produces high headroom clean output that is rich in Class A harmonics. What’s more, by employing advanced electrical and magnetic principles in design and production, Dar amplifiers minimise interference and the resulting hum.
At the heart of our power amp designs is the 6C33 tube, which is the same as employed by the Russian military in tanks and the MiG 25 fighter plane. Military applications require absolute reliability in the most challenging environments imaginable, and as such, the 6C33 is the perfect tube to ensure our amplifiers deliver consistent performance. Inexpensive and widely available, they have long been a popular tube among manufacturers of premium HiFi systems.
• A new kind of High Gain….with extreme clarity and articulation at bone crushing drive levels
• Capability to infinitely sustain any note or harmonic even at lower volumes
• Beautiful high headroom clean channels
• First and only hi power triode amps designed for hi gain operation
• A DAR Amp more than any other amp on the market is a full custom designed and hand made machine.
• We design, wind and assemble our own power supply and output transformers
• We hand build and tolex our own cabinets and cases at our in house wood shop
• All circuitry is hand assembled and wired using only mil spec. silver plated Teflon wire
• We utilize advanced engineering typically reserved for military/aerospace equipment
• Modern aesthetics
DAR speaker cabinets are not only the perfect sonic match for DAR amps, but also employ a dynamic illumination system that makes them the perfect aesthetic match as well. That said, the DAR illumination system will operate with any amplifier.
A self-powered system that requires no electrical input or batteries, the DAR illumination system allows the user to dial in any colour in the visible spectrum via three colour pots situated on the back of the cabinet, which then pulsates and modulates in response to your input. Turning all three colour pots to the off position will deactivate the illumination system.
Our speaker cabinets feature industry standard connectors that allow external controllers to drive the illumination system. By using these connections, the illumination system can be employed as part of a wider lighting scheme driven by the stage lighting technician. The FORZA QUATTRO amplifier also incorporates an internal DMX controller, power source and network ports, allowing it to be similarly integrated.

Palo Alto, California is home to Stanford University, one of the most prestigious research universities in the world, and the origin of much of the technology that powers the modern world. These days it is part of Silicon Valley, however Palo Alto’s history of technological innovation significantly predates the digital revolution. The tube amplifier was invented in Palo Alto in 1910, just a block away from the present day headquarters of DAR Amps.
Mike Giovannotto grew up in Palo Alto, and as befits a denizen of Silicon Valley, got his grounding in electronics early. As a teenager the mischievous Mike built a pirate television transmitter that drew the attention of local police, and although this foray into unlicensed broadcasting was soon shut down, it confirmed his passion for pushing the boundaries.
Mike’s education encompassed thermionic emissions, magnetics and low noise analogue circuitry, and he has developed superconducting magnetic instrumentation and traditional amplifiers for space, military and oil exploration. With DAR Amplification, he has developed an outlet that allows him to apply his talent for cutting edge electronics in pursuit of traditional tube tone and enviable high gain output.
